Business Information Systems Professional

As technology becomes more and more a part of everyday business, the systems and programs used by different organizations and the people who understand the ins and outs of these systems are in higher and higher demand. Business Information Systems professionals are experts in the various technology and programs used by businesses all of over the globe. These professionals take care of the technology to ensure it works seamlessly for executives, management and business professionals at all levels. By keeping a watchful eye on the technology successful companies use every day and devising solutions to increase productivity and efficiency, the rest of an organization’s professionals can focus on their specific roles, not having to worry about technology malfunction or difficulty.

The Business Information Systems program examines the intricacies and uses of information technology from a business enterprise perspective. Students will explore the individual components and of business information technology systems, their interconnectivity, as well as the development of such components based on particular business types. Learners will understand how various information systems are useful to enhance productivity and facilitate management practices. This program also introduces the various information and communications technologies available and explains how information systems are used to solve problems and make better business decisions.

All of these systems work together to speed and improve traditional business practices and should be used in a way that is beneficial to various decision making processes and strategic business actions. Learners will understand the need for workable networking concepts, examine the purpose and need for information systems as they pertain to overall function and security and also learn different applications and design techniques for successful business information systems.

Optional Volunteer Externship Opportunity

Learners who complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization whose work aligns with this area of study in order to gain valuable hands-on experience.  As learners progress through their eLearning program, an Externship Coordinator will reach out to coordinate placement.

Note: Additional documentation including health records, immunizations, drug-screening, criminal background checks, etc. may be required by the externship facility.

CPT Coding: Urinary and Male Reproductive System, Female Reproductive System, Materinity Care, and Delivery Procedures (50,000 Series)
This credential documents competencies including reading medical charts, coding diagnoses using ICD-10-CM, coding medical procedures using CPT, and having familiarity with HCPCS Level II and ICD-10-PCS coding requirements. A general understanding of medical insurance and the medical billing process is also required. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology are important to this field. This credential documents the essential skills for a medical coder working in various health settings. The successful medical coder will demonstrate proficiency with coding manuals and have the ability to extract coding information from medical documentation. The medical coder also needs thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
CPT Coding: Female Reproductive System, Maternity Care, and Delivery Procedures (50,000 Series)
Credentials in Medical Billing & Coding demonstrate competencies including reading medical charts, coding diagnoses using ICD-10-CM, coding medical procedures using CPT, and having familiarity with HCPCS Level II and ICD-10-PCS coding requirements.
